Chapada dos Veadeiros has two defined seasons: the dry season, from April to October; and the rainy season, from October to May. Both seasons are uniquely beautiful for the visitor. The average annual temperature in Chapada dos Veadeiros is about 25 ºC (77 ºF). Temperatures tend to soar up to 40 ºC (104 ºF) during the dry season in September.
The year begins with a humid climate in Chapada dos Veadeiros and it rains everyday, normally at the end of the day. The beauty in these season comes from the green color of the trees and the strong and beautiful waterfalls. This period is hot, but the rain can refresh visitors whilst on the trails and you can bath in natural swimmingpools. However, waterfalls should be avoided during heavy rains and in bad weather, as these places can become dangerous.
Once the rains cease after the month of May, the Chapada dos Veadeiros climate becomes very dry. The next six months are hot and dry, with no rain, and this is the perfect time to visit the waterfalls in the area. In fact, the months of June and July are best for visiting the waterfalls – while the rains have almost petered out, the waterfalls are still gushing with water. You can visit the waterfalls even in the later months; but the water levels begin to decline; however, the waterfalls seldom become dry.
You should always contract a local guide or take a local Chapada dos Veadeiros tour to inform and conduct you safely.
