Flights to Brazil
By Bus
If you want to take a bus to Chapada from Brasilia:
To Alto Paraíso / São Jorge
Get to Rodoferroviária of Brasilia and board the Royal Express(Real Expresso) bus to Alto Paraiso that leaves at 10 am and then again at 10 pm. The entire trip will take about three hours. To reach San Jorge, your best bet is to take the bus leaving at 4 pm.
To Cavalcante
Get to Rodoferroviária of Brasilia and board the Santo Antônio bus to Cavalcante that leaves at 6 am and then again at 2 pm hrs. The entire trip will take about 5 hours.
By Car
The road from Brasilia is fine. You can access this via the GO-118 and the BR-020, which passes through the cities of São Gabriel and São João D'Aliança. Arriving in Alto Paraíso, take the GO-327 to reach São Jorge village, which is the entrance to the national park. To go to Cavalcante, pass through Alto Paraíso and when you arrive in the city of Teresina de Goiás, take the left road.
The 15km of dirt road between Alto Paraíso and São Jorge is wide and doesn't have any pot holes. However, a slow and steady drive is advisable. Driving at high speeds can be dangerous.
Getting Around Chapada dos Veadeiros
You will be charged an admission fee of R$10.00 for every interesting spot. You will also have to pay your local guide, since he will give you a tour of the park and give you information on the flora and fauna.
You can either drive around Chapada dos Veadeiros in a car or hitchhike, though the second is not a great idea. Most of the visit-worthy spots are far away and walking is not a feasible option, unless of course, you are used to hiking. If you enter from São Jorge, you can get around quickly because the main waterfalls and the park are not more than 10 to 20 minutes by car.
If you enter from Alto Paraíso or Cavalcante, you will need to cover longer distances, although navigating around the place is easy as the routes are marked clearly. A word of advice: write down the names of the waterfalls that you want to see because you may not find any English speakers in the area (only some guides and a few people). If you tell them the names of the waterfalls, the friendly locals will willingly point you in the right direction.
If you head north, without entering Alto Paraíso, you will reach Cavalcante, which has about a hundred waterfalls.
